Note: After this article was completed, Israel carried out attacks on Iran. Due to the recent nature of this event and the need for in-depth analysis, it will not be addressed in the following text.
The assassination of two Israeli embassy officials in Washington on May 21 was immediately instrumentalized by international Zionism to once again present itself as a victim, invoking the overused narrative of antisemitism—wielded as a political shield to portray victimhood and justify before the world the genocide being carried out in Gaza.
This narrative is also employed by Netanyahu to legitimize his brutal colonial offensive in Gaza and the West Bank, under the political, economic, and military protection of the United States and European powers. These powers have effectively greenlit the accelerated colonization of Gaza and the West Bank, as Israel has long served as an armed outpost and loyal guardian of their regional interests.
What they attempt to obscure is that desperate actions—such as the one carried out by the man who killed the Israeli officials—do not arise in a vacuum. They are a direct consequence of the Zionist genocide unfolding before the eyes of the world, with the unwavering support of the U.S. government and European powers, while the complicit silence of most world governments—particularly Arab regimes—amounts to a betrayal of the Palestinian people’s suffering and dispossession.
We can thus state without hesitation that the primary parties responsible for the deaths of these two Israeli officials in Washington are Zionism itself, its closest ally the United States, and the European powers that support it.
The Endorsement of Israel by Global Powers
Immediately following the deaths of the two embassy staff members, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the European Union issued official statements expressing support for Israel:
“These horrific murders in Washington D.C., clearly motivated by antisemitism, must end NOW! Hatred and extremism have no place in the United States. My condolences to the victims’ families. How sad that such things can happen! God bless you all!”
—Donald Trump, in a statement released via Truth Social.[1]
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was quick to “unequivocally condemn” the incident, calling it an “antisemitic act.”[2]
French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he had contacted his Israeli counterpart following the murders, referring to the incident as an “antisemitic attack.”. [3]
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz declared in a post on X:“At this moment, we must assume antisemitic motivation. I condemn this heinous act in the strongest possible terms.”[4]
These strong statements of support for Netanyahu’s government, in effect, serve as endorsements of the Nazi-like methods used in the ongoing ethnic cleansing in Palestine. In stark contrast, statements condemning the extermination and catastrophic famine devastating Gaza have been weak and symbolic—offering no concrete actions to halt the genocide.
The 80th Anniversary of the Defeat of Nazism
In a cynical move—while a new phase of ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people was actively unfolding—Zionist leaders used the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz on January 27, 2025, to denounce what they called “the sharp rise of antisemitism worldwide.” Through a blatant act of historical manipulation, they even compared the October 2023 Hamas attack to the horrors endured by victims of Nazi extermination camps.
But reality tells a very different story. The ongoing genocide in Gaza and Israel’s actions over more than 74 years of colonial occupation are more than enough evidence that Zionism has employed the same methods of extermination once used by the Nazis. All in the name of dispossession, and to manufacture the myth of a “land without a people,” enabling it to complete what its predecessors began long before 1948: the ethnic cleansing of Palestine. (See also the article: “The Endless Occupation of Palestine”)
The Supremacist Government of Israel: A Modern Expression of Nazism
Beyond U.S. and European support, the brutal advance of Zionism in Gaza has been made possible by the coalition between Likud, Netanyahu’s party, and the most extreme far-right settler factions. This governing alliance includes the parties Noam, Jewish Power (led by Itamar Ben-Gvir), and Religious Zionism (headed by Bezalel Smotrich). Holding a majority in the Knesset, the coalition makes no secret of its objective: to complete the ethnic cleansing of Gaza’s population, fully annex the territory, and expand settlements—ultimately claiming the West Bank, Judea, and Samaria under the ideological framework of the “Promised Land.”
In exchange for their support, Netanyahu granted these groups two of the most powerful ministries—directly aligned with the government’s extermination agenda:
“Itamar Ben-Gvir (Minister of National Security) is a settler living in Kiryat Arba, near Hebron, who was convicted in 2007 for incitement to racism. Already in his position as Minister of National Security, he controlled the police. The day after the massacre, he ordered the relaxation of requirements for civilians to obtain gun licenses. He had previously made it easier for settlers to arm themselves in the occupied West Bank. His entry into government also marked a sharp rise in the impunity with which settlers expelled and attacked Palestinians. Ben-Gvir is a member of the security cabinet—the body that makes political decisions about the invasion of Gaza. His ally, Bezalel Smotrich, leader of the Religious Zionism Party, serves as Finance Minister—a strategic position through which he allocates funds to build new Israeli settlements in the West Bank. The coalition with Likud also granted him expanded authority within the Defense Ministry, creating the Settlements Administration, which oversees West Bank colonies. Smotrich is, in effect, a kind of Minister of Settlements, in charge of many of the mechanisms Israel uses to dispossess Palestinians of their land, annex it, and legalize settlements. He also controls key functions of COGAT, the military body that regulates aid access to Gaza.” [5]
Unfortunately, this supremacist government enjoys the support of a significant majority of Israeli society. Just as the Nazi regime was initially upheld by large sectors of the German population, today, a substantial portion of Israelis endorse the mass expulsion of Palestinians:
“Narratives such as the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians—once openly embraced only by the religious far-right—are now openly debated in Israeli media. When Trump proposed expelling Gaza’s native population, the Jewish People Policy Institute conducted a survey: 82% of Jewish Israelis supported the ‘relocation’ of Gazans, while only 3% considered it ‘immoral.’i[6]
The atrocities committed by Zionism—and before it, by European and German Nazism—reveal the lengths to which those who govern and dominate the world are willing to go. These are the agents of a global capitalist system rooted in exploitation and oppression, ready to annihilate entire peoples to preserve their insatiable profits. That is why we assert: as long as capitalism exists, Nazism is never far—it will reemerge unless stopped by the mass movement. (See also: “Israel’s Terrorist Attacks in Lebanon and Genocide in Palestine: A Modern Expression of Nazi Barbarism”).
The World Powers Arm Israel
While the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people unfolds before the eyes of the world—backed by the financial, military, and political support of the United States, which has intensified under the Trump administration—the governments of the European powers and their human rights institutions limit themselves to issuing statements condemning Israel. However, these condemnations never translate into decisive actions to halt the extermination. Why? Because doing so would jeopardize their economic interests. Any firm action would mean disrupting their profitable business ties with Israel—particularly in the powerful arms industry.
The latest report from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) exposes the infrastructure sustaining Israel’s war machine: 69% of its arms imports come from the United States. Germany is the second-largest supplier, accounting for 30%, followed by Italy with 0.9%. Adding to this chain of complicity are France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Canada, and Australia.[7]
These figures not only reveal who is financing the genocide—they also expose the hypocrisy of the European governments that, while proclaiming themselves defenders of democratic rights, profit from the death and suffering of the Palestinian people.
Contrary to popular belief, it is now clear that the governments of these powers will not lift a finger to stop Israel. Why would they, if they belong to the same ruling class and share common interests? Their solidarity with Israel is a matter of class alignment.
Nor will they act because Israel serves as the spearhead of counterrevolution in this volatile and unstable region of the world—advancing precisely the interests of these same powers.
Today, Gaza is a reflection of this perverse logic. Beneath its ruins lie not only the lives of the massacred, but also the crumbling illusions of those who still believe that within this system, democracy, peace, and prosperity for all are possible.
An Escalation in the Offensive by Zionism and Its Imperialist Allies.
At the beginning of 2025, it was already clear that the ceasefire agreed upon in January—which Israel quickly violated—was not the end of ethnic cleansing, as many had claimed. On the contrary, it marked an escalation in the Zionist offensive. Immediately afterward, the Israeli military launched a new wave of bombings and issued evacuation orders, forcing the population further south within the Gaza Strip, pushing them closer to the Egyptian border. This was a calculated and macabre maneuver aimed at continuing the killing and displacement—ultimately seeking their permanent expulsion. (See also: “Ceasefire in Gaza: The End of Zionist Ethnic Cleansing?”)
Under the pretext of pressuring Hamas to release hostages, Israel intensified its airstrikes and expanded ground operations—particularly with brutal force in northern Gaza. This escalation is designed to enlarge the so-called “evacuation and security zones,” effectively preventing displaced Palestinians from returning to what remains of their homes.
In line with this genocidal plan, in May the Israeli parliament approved a change in its military policy, authorizing the permanent occupation of devastated territories. This allows Israel to seize the land of murdered and displaced Palestinians, finalize their dispossession, and move forward with the full occupation of historical Palestine.
Simultaneously, the expansion of Israeli settler colonies in the West Bank is accelerating. In May, the government officially approved 22 new settlement projects, advancing the colonization of Palestinian land. [8]
All these actions are fully backed by the Trump administration and align with his proposal to build a “Middle East Riviera”—a lucrative real estate venture that, if carried out, would be built on the blood of thousands of Palestinians massacred over the past 20 months.
Hunger as a Weapon of War
Among the many methods of extermination used by the Israeli army, starving the population of Gaza to seize their land stands out as a practice that clearly mirrors Nazi tactics. Since the onset of this latest offensive in October 2023, Israel has systematically blocked the entry of trucks carrying basic supplies—a deliberate policy aimed at decimating the population, breaking their morale, and forcing their displacement to other countries.
“We are unable to meet minimum nutritional requirements. There are no vegetables, no fruits, no meat, no fish, no eggs—there is nothing.”
“We do not have enough money to buy vegetables, fruits, or nutritional supplements.”
These are just a few of the thousands of heartbreaking testimonies from Gazans facing the famine conditions imposed by Zionism. Numerous NGOs—until recently involved in food distribution—have reported how, day after day, the long lines grow longer, revealing desolate scenes of exhausted men and women and children crying because, for many, that will be their only meal of the day. Even that meal has been reduced due to the severe shortage of lentils, rice, and pasta.[9]
According to the latest report from the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), there is a “high risk” that famine will occur in the territory by the end of September, as illustrated in the graph published by the BBC.[10]

As part of this macabre extermination plan—and to mitigate growing criticism from some European governments and international organizations like the UN—Zionist authorities announced on May 27 that they would replace UN-coordinated aid agencies with their own operation. From that point, food distribution to Gazans was handed over to a little-known U.S.-based company called the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which set up just four distribution points across the entire Gaza Strip.
Besides being a profitable private venture, this maneuver hides a perverse wartime tactic. The goal is to drive a desperate and starving population to overcrowded distribution sites, provoking chaos that can then be used as justification for opening fire and massacring civilians—likely under the pretext that Hamas fighters may also be present.
This prompted a stark warning from UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, who stated:
“Palestinians are being given the bleakest of choices: die of starvation or risk being shot while trying to access the limited food made available through Israel’s militarized humanitarian aid system.”[11]
It is now undeniable that the cruelty of Zionism knows no limits. This militarized food distribution system is part of a broader Nazi-style policy of ethnic cleansing. Zionism’s colonial project has not only destroyed the Palestinian people’s right to a sovereign nation, but has also dehumanized them—subjecting them to humiliation and treating them like animals. Denying them access to food and other basic rights exceeds even the practices of the Nazis, which many believed the world would never witness again.
The Urgency of Halting Zionism’s Advance
The labels “terrorists,” “enemies of Israel,” or “antisemites” are cynically weaponized by Zionists as political tools to delegitimize all resistance and to cover up mass killings under the narrative of Israel’s “right to exist and defend itself.”
For this reason, in the face of a planned and ongoing genocide, it is urgent to defend the Palestinian people without hesitation. This includes acknowledging and addressing mistakes made by their political leaderships, while also standing in full solidarity with their resistance and defending their right to establish a secular, democratic, and non-racist Palestinian state.
It is imperative that we—members of the working class, the exploited, and the oppressed of the world—take up the Palestinian cause as our own. We must join the growing protest movements against Zionism and its imperialist allies, which are once again spreading through cities in Europe and the United States.
We must take inspiration from the courageous example set by university students, who in 2024 organized protest encampments to denounce and resist the ethnic cleansing in Palestine. Their struggle must inspire and multiply into broader, coordinated forms of global resistance.
It is equally urgent to build a unified mass mobilization across the region, following the example of the Arab Spring, to overcome the cowardice and complicity of regional governments and leaders, and to stop the advance of Zionism.
Furthermore, the international working class must take a leading role in strikes and boycotts that halt production in the factories supplying arms to Israel’s genocidal military.
This dramatic moment calls for far more than statements. It demands organization, determination, and active struggle. Union leaders, grassroots organizations, and democratic movements in Colombia, Latin America, and across the world carry a historic responsibility: to call for and organize the broadest possible mobilization in solidarity with the Palestinian cause—to stop the genocide and push back Zionist expansion in Gaza and the West Bank.
This task also requires intensified pressure on imperialist governments through mass mobilizations and struggle, to demand an immediate arms embargo against Israel. Equally urgent is the demand for so-called “progressive” governments that claim to oppose the genocide to follow the examples set—thus far only by Bolivia and Colombia—by severing all diplomatic and economic ties with the Zionist state.
This is not the time for more speeches and empty words—this moment demands real action, mobilization, and concrete solidarity!
